A story still to be written
“At ManOrga, we didn’t wait for CSR policies to think about our teams’ well-being or our impact on the environment. We have been putting people and the planet at the heart of our project through concrete actions and using common sense for over fifty years.
But a story that isn’t put in writing will surely be forgotten.
That’s why, a year ago, we decided to quantify and measure the impacts of our actions. We’re starting a new chapter in our story that incorporates social and environmental issues fully in our governance.
While our approach is still in its early stages, it’s already ambitious. For the future, we want a strong and sustainable industry that’s conscious of its ecological impact and that’s an actor of social utility.
Let’s work together to reduce our negative impacts and let’s leave a positive footprint. To do that, let’s be ready to rethink our models, our designs, how we produce and how we consume.
We know that the world is changing, and we want to do our part.
Together, let’s start writing this story.”

As a metalworking company, we know that we have a large environmental footprint. While we are making our carbon footprint a priority indicator, we know that it isn’t the only one we need to track. Our goal is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by :
- 15% by 2028 for our entire business (Scopes 1, 2, 3*)
- 40% by 2030 for our operational scope (Scopes 1 and 2)
*Scopes correspond to an organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions, based on whether they are direct or indirect.
The various standards (Bilan Carbone™, GHG Protocol, ISO, etc.) traditionally identify three scopes :
• Scope 1 : direct emissions from fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal, etc.)
• Scope 2 : indirect emissions from electricity consumption and heating/cooling systems
• Scope 3 : indirect emissions outside Scope 2 : purchased products and services, transportation and logistics, waste, etc.

People are at the heart of our business project. We work with a team spirit, and we want to promote the values of trust and respect every day. We are proud to be an Hauts-de-France company, so we want to have a positive impact on our local ecosystem and participate in our region’s vitality.
Why SEU instead of CSR ?
We have chosen Social and Environmental Utility (SEU) over Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) because :
• Our approach is above all proactive : we don’t just meet an obligation, we choose to do better, for our society and our planet.
• “Responsibility” often implies a solution to a problem, but we don’t repair, we build. Our commitment goes beyond following orders.
• Utility has a broader meaning. Our vision is simple : we firmly believe that our action must have a positive impact, and not just be a reaction.
• The wording is more engaging and authentic. Yes, we are aware that changing the term doesn’t change our actions, but it better reflects what we’re doing.
WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE ?
We have just started writing this story. There are still so many chapters to create.
